| If anyone is seeing them these last two shows (Richmond and NYC) the Love Language are opening and their new album is absolutely spectacular.
Give a listen (its being streamed):

I'm absolutely floored by it. Just made the anticipation for tonight all the more crazy.

| Just back from Richmond show.
It was pretty damn good needless to say. I was absolutely floored by the opener (Love Language). CO was as expected wonderful and I got "Forests & Sands" fairly early on in the set which was a treat and IMO the highlight of the gig along with "If Looks Could Kill".
Going to write a full review on the blog in a bit and look over my pics/vids.
I am horrible with remembering setlists, so I cant help there, but no surprises. Opened with My Maudlin, closed with Razzle Dazzle, with the usual suspects in between. Some fun banter from Tracey though.
Pics, a video, and my longer review:

| Thank you for posting your review and the pics!
Someone filmed almost the entire show, including that joke about older people... LOL.

| The ice cream social was extremely hot and crowded. A nice little set, but not the most pleasant setting in which to see a show.
Kinda cool it was actually in a bank vault though. Not too many people have seen a Camera Obscura gig IN a bank vault.
I'm curious is Tony made it there. It was so uncomfortable I'm sure a lot of people got there and just turned around and said "nuts to this!".
But hey... I got to hear "Forests and Sands". So that's good.
More later.... | |

| The Music Slut has a couple of pics and the setlist.
Earlier today, to serve as a last-minute treat for their NYC based fans, Camera Obscura performed a dazzling mini-set inside an old bank vault (read: sweltering basement). Official TMS Rating: 9/10.
(Setlist) Let’s Get Out Of This Country. Tears For Affairs. Forests & Sands. James. Lloyd I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken. French Navy.
(Encore) Eighties Fan.

| well... even for CO, i think they were being a little generous with the rating "9/10". Any 30 minute set in a sweltering basement shouldn't get that high of a rating.
TAC and gang were all great, and the songs sounded spectacular (especially the rearranged Lloyd and the always amazing F&S). Carey was especially rockin' on the keys... which thanks to my spot next to the speaker i could actually hear!
But really? the rest of the ordeal was a bit of a shit-show. We were waiting in a 90+ degree room with no ventilation for about an hour until we got in, and there were so many pushy jerks I couldn't get my spot in front. I was actually like 4 or 5 rows back and I was one of the first people there! Really jerky crowd actually. Which you always get with these free shows.
Tonight will be awesome though.

Yup Ice cream social today at Brooklyn Flea Market. Please note, we're just doing a mini set- it's not a proper gig or owt. I was well aware that this "gig" was a "mini set". It wasn't the brevity of the set that was annoying... it was the sweltering heat and overall un-organization. Anyway... the gig tonight was absolutely amazing... here's the setlist: Come Back Margret sweetest thing Swans Keep it Clean You told a lie tears for affairs suspended from class teenager james CARELESS LOVE Lloyd If Looks Could Kill French Navy Honey in the Sun -- 80s fan LGOTC Razzle Victoria Bergsman was at both shows. yeah. im'a tired. will talk more later.

http://according2g.com/2010/06/camera-obscura-live-at-nycs-grand-ballroom/ I got a shout-out in that review! This guy was standing next to us in the line to get in. We all got there probably an hour and a half before doors opened. Never saw Tony... or if I did, I didn't notice. But I was standing front and center. Really great gig. The strings sounded nice, and the band seemed extra chipper. Also nice to hear a couple of golden oldies that I haven't seen live in a while (especially "keep it clean"). I'm going to check out those videos now!
