Dear lovers,
How the heck are you? It’s been ages, sorry for not writing for so long. We now have some news worth sharing:
1) ALBUM NUMBER TWO:
We are just putting the finishing touches on our second album. It will be released by Chemikal Underground Records in January 2011. It is called ‘Propeller Versus Wings’ and we really hope you like it. More details to follow in the coming months, but for now here is the tracklisting: Mountain On Fire The Cake And Eating It Sackville Sun My Aviator Escape Maps You Told The Drunks I Knew Karate Little Islands Extremities Robot Tyrannosaur Another Day Another Disaster Where It Lands
2) GIG IN PAISLEY AT PAISLEY ARTS CENTRE, OCTOBER 8:
We’ve been laying low in terms of gigs, but we’re doing a special one-off show in a converted church in Paisley. It will be our only show anywhere near Glasgow for the next while. It’s an 18 minute train ride to Paisley Canal Station, which is very close to the venue, so you know what? Come on out, it will be great. Support comes from the Seventeenth Century, tickets are £8 (£6 concession). You can buy tickets here:
great news for the album - i'll be waitin (not so) patiently... bolony

Same news (word for word, actually) got sent to my mailbox a few minutes ago. There was a #3 about playing ATP/Bowlie 2 which we all already know about.

no sadly. it's an album that desperately needs it - sometimes the mix sounds really sterile and some wax would warm it up.

from an interview...

Their upcoming album, Propeller Versus Wings, has just been recorded, and there are plans to release one or two singles throughout November and December.
“As the title would suggest, a lot of the songs run on the theme of flight and travel,” Matt says.
“It takes a lot of time to do the artwork and edit so it won’t be out until later on. Then we’re heading to Butlins in Minehead to take part in All Tomorrow’s Parties where we’ll see some of our friends, Frightened Rabbit and The Vaselines.
coupla singles in the coming months!!

Dear lovers,
Christmas time is here, and we hope you are all with your loved ones and having the best of holidays.
This is kind of a surprise item (it surprised us at least) for the end of the year, but we need to call upon the ZVG community of friends once more before settling down to Christmas delights, because:
Our new single, ‘The Cake and Eating It’ (which you can hear on www.myspace.com/zoeyvangoey), is in the running to be BBC Radio 2’s ‘Pick ‘n’ Mix’ single of the week next week! Weird but good. To make it happen, we need you to vote here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wr8d
Just follow the link and cast your vote using the e-mail web form they’ve got set up. It takes a minute to do and it would be a pretty terrific end to the year if we got it. Voting ends on Monday at noon. Feel free to pass the link along to anyone you know as well. Thanks a million!
And of course we also have the video-making contest (http://zoeyvangoey.bandcamp.com/) ending on 15 January 2011 and the second album launch at Classic Grand in Glasgow on 5 February 2011 for your diaries.
Thanks so much for your support, we’ve had a brilliant year and it’s all down to you,
Love,
ZVGxo
still like to hear if anyone went to see them on Dec 5th or at Bowlie 2... i'm dying to see them play.. maybe 2011 will bring them to canada??... hope hope

i forgot to mention awhile ago...i twittered to ZVG about a vinyl of the newbie and they say they are hoping for it. so i guess it's up to the label. chemikal underground has done vinyl for other artists so it's not out of the question, i guess it's probably a matter of whether they think they can sell them. sending a barrage of requests for vinyl to the label might nudge them in that direction perhaps?

Zoey Van Goey had a very good 2010, which began with signing to Chemikal Underground Records and ended with being invited to play Belle and Sebastian's curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival. In 2011, ZVG launch their second album entitled 'Propeller Versus Wings.'
This special concert will feature support from the excellent Malcolm Middleton, who will perform songs from his new project Human Don't Be Angry, as well as surprise ...guest performances. The launch gig is an over-14s show. Doors 7pm. First band 730pm. Curfew 10pm.
Tickets £6 advance and £7 on the door, available online here: http://www.tickets-scotland.com/artists.html?event_searchtext=zoey+van+goey&event_method=search
"Not yer typical indie outfit, this continually evolving three-piece deal in beautifully understated pop songs that sparkle and fizz with intelligence and power. Highly recommended." - THE SKINNY
"Irresistible pop thrills... definitely one of Scotland's finest at the moment" - SUNDAY MAIL
"Clever, beguiling folk-tinged guitar pop from Glasgow ... whose songs are both funny and poignant." - THE SCOTSMAN
“Anthemic, insightful indie-folk with wonderful sparkles of humour” - CLASH MAGAZINE
i guess they won the Radcliffe and Maconie's 'Record Of The Week' on Radio 2 too... hope my vote put em on top! i guess i also missed a playing of a tune off their new album in December.. "Mountain On Fire" on Gideon Coe show.. ahh crapper.. can only listen to clip now..

Oh man...I so wanted to enter it. The deadline was just too short notice, and I couldn't make the time. Considering everything that's happened since I made that decision, in hindsight I think it was the right one. But wow do I really want those prizes! Even if I wasn't able to make it to the launch show. And you can be certain I'd share.
Maybe they'll have another contest in the future. Or maybe I'll make a video for some other song later, once I have the time, and just hope they send me their secret back catalog as gratitude. Hahahaha.

Wow I love that one. Way better than what I was putting together. Would have spent all that time and broken my wrists for naught! Anyway
the ZVG gang posted this on their twitface a few minutes ago:
I'm so friggin excited! Only 23 days to go!!
On a somewhat related but not really note: Ms. Ireton tweeted me the other day, the Go Away Birds are planning to do some recording this weekend! Damn it's been ages since the last EP. February is going to be awesome! (don't forget there's a Telekinesis album coming as well.)

Mine just arrived today. Only a few minutes ago did I finish listening to it. OH MY GOD This is just fucking incredible. So, so easily the best thing I've heard all year. The sound has matured so much, it almost puts the first album to shame. Every track is brilliant, and as an album arranged in a way that puts you on a roller-coaster of emotion. You won't want to skip past a single second, and by the end I couldn't imagine there was anything they could have added or removed to make it better. I've eagerly awaited so many disappointing preorders recently. This one, it makes up for all the others.

Wow that took ages to get! It's so fantastic, right? For the first 72 hours after delivery, it's all I wanted to play. Over and over and over and over again. Felt like I was 14, but it's first album that I've wanted to stick on repeat for as long as I remember. And the best part, usually if I stick an album on repeat like that, I get sick of it quickly and never want to hear it again, but no! I still adore Propeller Versus Wings!
That Unlocked with all the scribbles looks great, but the image got shrunk and I can't read any of the writing....it looks like it must be....endearing.
