Does anyone here have a nice and tidy collection of the older BBC sessions? :-) I'm obsessed...

Erm, how old do you mean by older?
I've got three BBC sessions, from April 9, 18th, and 24th of this year. That's...three-ish months old.

Older, as in pre-Maudlin. There's a few sessions according to the BBC website.

I'd like to grab those too if you ever find them. There's nothing pre-maudlin on any of the regular trading websites - Except I do have a TV broadcast from Jul 21, 07 in Spain. I haven't pulled the audio off yet.

(edit: i'll have this show in a few days as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDQB6QDb_YU)

There are of course a few peel sessions from way back, which I have somewhere or other. I'll dig them out. If I remember I just googled or soulseeked them quite easily, but I will have to have a look for them.

PostSubject: sessions and some bio links...   Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:07 pm

i too have some of the earlier sessions from the Peel Studios - here's a link to em (which i still hope is ok by the band since i can't find any commercial LP including them). I'm not sure where i got them but i just checked and the first session is lower quality mp3 (bit rate of 128) but the others are decent mp3s (192 bit rate):

on a side/related note =>
this is a good site listing most of their tracks and where they came from - the most complete discography of Camera Obscura that I've seen:
http://www.twee.net/bands/c/cameraobscur.html

here's a link to a site that has a bunch of sessions but most of them are newer than 2007 - may be a few ya missed?
http://peenko.blogspot.com/search/label/Camera%20Obscura

and...if you're interested - a link to a site with the lyrics to most if not all CO songs. also has a great bio with tidbits I didn't know but the bio has not been updated since before LGOOTC:
http://www.alwaysontherun.net/cameraobscura.htm

oh and another amazing bio page:

Now only missing the 20/12/01 Peel Acres session (Happy New Year & Little Donkey)! Anyone? Perhaps CO will release properly mastered complete Peel Sessions one day...

Also, I didn't know about Robert Burns. After further research, here are the proper titles for the Burns session:
1. I Love My Jean (Of A' The Airts The Wind Can Blaw)
2. O, That I Were Where Helen Lies
3. Ae Fond Kiss, And The We Sever
4. A Red, Red Rose
5. Johnie Lad, Cock Up Your Beaver (a hilarious title in the context of modern times!)

Thanks again Tony, brilliant stuff!

i too have Little Donkey but mediocre quality
i also have the whole Peel Show as one mp3 if you want me to post that (about 100meg) and you could cut the song from that.

ok - scratch that...i have the Peel Session in its entirety and i have created individual songs for the two tracks and a longer one of the whole CO show with dialogue with John Peel here:
http://www.zshare.net/download/62654538dfdcf236/

i would LOVE it if they released this properly - they certainly have enough material for a record..

also here is the 2 "Peel" bookmarks i have from long ago but still seem ok:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/sessions/2000s/2001/Dec20cameraobscura/
http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/20_December_2001
they are quite good for all-things-peel

Thanks so much Tony! Little Donkey is pretty sweet.

There are indeed 20 Peel tracks, certainly enough for a tidy compilation!

Tiny thanks so much for putting up the Peel Sessions. The song Greyhound Going Somewhere is amazing I hadn't heard it before. Does anybody know if this is a cover version ?
