the first music forum i ever participated in was a Steely Dan fan group, two of the couples who posted regularly there had met and got married solely because of that website. kinda cool, and kinda weird actually...

Thanks! I hope to be a productive member of the site. I've been a Camera Obscura fan for years and have all their full-length albums and several singles...nice to finally have more than a few people to talk about them with.

I think you're right about that, graeme, the band mentioning the site on their Twitter is what brought me here. I'd not heard of the site prior to that...it's my hope that most of the people who have joined as a result of that are like me, truly fans of the band.

You may have been until yesterday when I signed up. Thanks for the warm welcome. Which midwestern city are you in? I'm in Manhattan, Kansas and I'll be heading to the St. Louis show in December.

I'm in rural east Iowa. Cedar Rapids is probably the closest big city to me if you know where that is. I was thinking about going to the St Louis show but it just seems incredibly far for a one night thing and I'm pretty low on cash. Should have gone to Chicago when they were there. That's at least only 3 hours away instead of 6. :P

Six hours is about as close as they get to me. One of my closest friends and I are making the drive. We were both quite sad we couldn't make it during their summer tour so we decided to say "f*#% it" and just go.
