Do we think there will be one for CO? Probably a nigh on impossible question to answer but I thoughtful put it out there.
I guess it would be difficult even to get in a rehearsal room again without Carey never mind anything else. Still sad, even typing this.

I think it's very ominous that amongst other things, Kenny is looking at selling his Jazzmaster as part of the upcoming band auctions to raise money toward Carey's charity fundraiser.

I can't imagine how he could bear to part with that guitar that has been part of him for the whole of their career.
To me it seems like a decision has been made based on the selling of that guitar.
They said in their facebook post even that whoever buys that guitar will be buying the sound of Camera Obscura.

Part of me almost wants to bid money to an auction for him NOT to sell it.
I'd love to own that guitar though.

But to the future of the band? So hard to say. I feel like it's down sadly.
How could they bring themselves to continue under that name? If they DID decide to do that though, shit I'd support it.

ah well, it was only a matter of time before the great unthinkable would become words, I think we/I have touched on this a few times. In the review for Hebden Bridge I almost or I did touch on a certain sadness that this may be the last time I see the band. I like most, still feel the sadness of Careys passing. There is or was a feel that desire lines would be the "make or breaking" of the band who have always wanted to appeal to a much larger following and fan base. Their popularity in certain area`s of the globe are just logistically out of reach, especially for a couple or couples with young families. Desire lines is a majestic album, it will stand the test of time,as will most if not all of their output. The band stuttered, dipped their toes and eventually decided to become full time musicians/artists quite late in their career. It is a big decision to make but about the time of L.G.O.O.T.C they jumped into the abyss. There tours were always 7-8 shows in the UK. The crowds were just about a crowd, some of the times(shrewsbury) played venue`s that swamped them a little(Leamington spa) but everytime I`ve seen them, they never ceased to amaze, I love/loved this band. The accusation of their sombre, miserable and lifeless stage presence was never something I could buy in to.They are not "show folk" and on the few occasions I have chatted to any of them, they are genuine, warm and lovely people. I started this forum because of the lack of anywhere to talk about the band and their music. Their own sites, in various guises were met with a verbal desert of opinion. They must have a lot of people, I know they do,who love their music but seem to have difficulty in expressing this and eem to be hesitant in having any thoughts or opinions. I understand that out pouring of emotion to unknown strangers is a personal thing,i am one of those folk who has something to say about a medium I love, good, bad or indifferent. I am not convinced though that this the end of the band, but really I don't know, I hope they carry on, because by now its all they know but maybe deep down its wishful thinking. If it is the end then they can take comfort in the fact that the great art is made, those beautiful songs...they are here forever and touched so many people, not least me. so if it is, then thanks for the ride, and everything...if its not then I//we will still be here to support any decisions made, big love Graeme.

Totally. And if they do decide to go on, that's a huge chunk of their chemistry gone that my never be regained.
Then again though, they might be able to find a new chemistry with another player if they can bring themselves to try.
And if they can't do that, who would blame them?
We'll always have the amazing music, the videos, all the great live footage that exists out there...

I can only imagine this difficult dilemma for the band. I too am hoping for them to continue or even evolve as a band in some other form. They are presented with a tough crossroad and i dont think anyone can hazard a guess as to where they go from here. I too will support the band with whatever decision they make because i too love this band. I often wonder if bands like this know the impact they can have on people - even when we dont know the context or the true meaning behind a tune.. especially when we dont know! I think to the music from my childhood that has stayed with me all these years because my parents loved it. I may not own the record or even have an mp3 of it but when i hear those songs, Im transported to that time of youthful ignorant bliss. My kids will have Camera Obscura as that foundation of music! We have listened to their albums at home, on car rides, played them on our own instruments (attempted!), etc. etc. Their tunes are ingrained into my kids minds and hearts probably to a higher degree than my own. Whatever outcome befalls the band, I hope they know that their music will always be treasured by my family... and Im just one person who took the time to write this on the internet.. how many more are like me and just havent discovered Graeme's baby here to post their thoughts? Record sales are important but definitely not the only indicator of an amazing band! Only wish i could do more to support them ..especially in hard times.
