PostSubject: "Let's Do It Again" lyrics question   Mon Dec 09, 2013 9:46 pm

Hi all~

I've been playing the new album for my new, utterly amazing girlfriend, and, while she is a huge fan of "Let's Do It Again", she asked me about the meaning of "...call my number/twenty-six and three quarters/turn all the lights down/let's do it again." I'm American, so perhaps I'm just missing the significance of "twenty-six and three quarters", but I've given it a lot of thought, and I have literally no idea what it's about, or why that phrase is included in the song.

Any and all input/hints/suggestions/etc. very much appreciated.

Thanks and regards!

Jeff

PS: A warm and sincere congrats to Tracyanne and Tim!

wondered this myself.. an tried to come up with something witty or "artsy" but got nothin! might be a simple as phone number ending in 2634..
i like these little mysteries in tunes - was a thread previously about a Zoey van Goey tune with a turn of phrase that sounded "familiar" like 26 & 3/4 does..

I actually thought about this last night, and wondered about the phone number/2634 possibility. The aforementioned amazing girlfriend suggested that perhaps "twenty-six and three-quarters" referred to her age, which also seems as good a guess as any.

What's interesting about this, is that Tracyanne's delivery of this line absolutely makes the line for me (just as her astonishing delivery of "So you want to be a writer/fantastic idea..." turn "Swans" into the utter classic that it is)...

And, as you mention, these little mysteries, these small intrigues, are superb.

With warm regards,

Jeff

I don't think Traceyanne normally does this, but the answer COULD be as simple as throwing that line in as a place holder lyric that worked?
