PostSubject: Best way to meet the band?   Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:57 pm

I'm going to the show tonight in SF and was wondering if anyone has had any luck meeting the band before/after a show? Been a huge CO fan for the better part of a year now, and been looking forward to this show for months now!

Pardon my manners; its nice to finally post here! I have been an intermittent lurker over the past year (forgive me).

haha welcome!  the band is really approachable and easy to chat with.. my wife and i have been really lucky since we ran into them before a show once.. we were hunting for a bank machine i think (wasnt our hometown) and i recognized Gavin beside me on the sidewalk and then noticed the rest of the band was there as well looking for a restaurant.. was neat to see them outa context in a casual setting but i was pretty star-struck and probably jabbered.. ah well.  we also saw them after a gig in a crap bar in toronto and again after the ice-cream social they put on in nyc.. the other 2 shows we stayed after to talk but the bar kicked us out once and the other time was superhot in there and they were probably recuperating backstage..
to answer yer question, you can usually see them before or after the shows.. sounds as tho the gigs are gettin bigger and that opportunity may disappear altogether soon..
have fun at the show!  Im sure you'll enjoy

Thanks for your reply TB. That's an awesome story about meeting them wandering the streets before a gig (I'll definitely be alert to that next time)! Tonight we happened to spot their bus and waited around after the show for them, on the OPPOSITE side of the street (security guard orders). Our hearts sank a bit when we saw most of the band give us a quick smile and then get on the bus, but luckily Tracyanne saw our little gathering and crossed the street to come say hello and pose for pictures! Tonight has GOT to be the greatest night ever. She was totally cool too, but I know what you mean about being slightly star-struck; I wish I said something just a little more intelligent than 'Thanks for your music, thank you', etc. Oh well, at least I said something!

The show was amazing. Need to see them play again, and I don't want to wait a year or more.

great stuff...nice for you to meet her/them briefly...they do pack a bigger punch these days as historically the were more accessible....but as mentioned they are normally very approachable and nice folk.............like most folk these days you can message them on twitter or facebook....you may even get a reply....one of my best night was spent with the band at pat Nevins disco(a skittish footballer, pundit and music legend) a massive fan of the band,it was at bowlie 2 when tracyanne came over and said"your Graeme aren't ya"and invited me to sit with them...they are ust people arnt they...but it was great watchin her dance at the disco like a normal punter...and clapping along to "lazy line painter jane...great nights,ya don't want them to end....
