san francisco song
C/W
sugartown/blue moon

listenin to the merge show today 30/07/2004,my 44th birthday...these early days on the road must have been fantastic...most bands earliest days have the fondest memories..there may have been friction and the way the band has progressed both lyrically and musically cannot be denied but hearing these old songs is great. tracyannes lyrics are sublime,up there with anyone really, yeah i am talkin dylan,costello,young,cohen,whoever...the reworking of san francisco song is summit i`d like to see done again,or hear i mean...the slow version is excellent and i`d like to see it done this way with strings/orchestra etc as 7" christmas gift..get mick cooke on the case..not sure bout a B side...anyone??i`ve gone for sugartown purely because its played at the same show. any others songs that might benefit from bein speeded up or slowed down?

ahh a Christmas wish... my favourite! i too would like a nice holiday season treat of a new single..
San Fran would be interesting slowed down... havent heard that show youre talking about.. dont even have it actually. was it from dimeadozen? or could you send me a link to it? I remember the first time i heard that tune, i thought it was the most unlike any of their other songs..i really liked it right off but it IS different. what else would be good played at a higher/lower speed...hm.. Suspended would be kinda neat sped up.. Bowling Shoes would be too.. an i'd like to hear a slower ballad version of Looks Could Kill... love that song so much.
i'm thinking of the amazing version of the Tragically Hip's "courage" that Sarah Polley did for the Sweet Hereafter soundtrack.. first time i heard it, I honestly couldnt figure out why i knew all the words to the tune but couldnt recognize it until the chorus! i was stunned by how beautiful it is..
Baby Dont Go would be a good b-side proper recording too..
