Just a little idea I had...

I'm looking forward to reading some of your contributions...

For Fans Only requires your thoughts on the words and music of Glasgow’s popular music band, Belle and Sebastian.

The idea is simple: we need to hear how individual songs have affected you, inspired you, frustrated you, delighted you. What do Stuart’s lyrics mean to you? How did you discover this most inspirational of bands? What do the songs mean to you? What we’re really interested in is the personal reaction, the unique experiences that these beautiful songs have soundtracked over the past 15 years.

What we hope to do is to allow the responses to trickle in over the next few months, collate them and publish them, with all of you being able to tell your own individual stories about the songs. Ideally we would like to publish them in a physical format, but that really depends on you and the quality of your responses. They can be anonymous if you so wish, but what finer way to get your name in print than with a celebration of Glasgow’s finest?

If you’re a storyteller, you might think you’re without responsibility, but you owe it to yourself.

interesting idea....its quite strange i think about people who listen to belle & sebastian,and how they react album to album,yeah i think at first there was/is a precious element....on friday i got round to ordering fold your arms,which means now i am only short of life pursuit,reading the reviews of this fantastic album i was a bit bewildered,but i love storytelling n`all...but to be honest i cant think of one album i dont really love,i was a late comer to b&s,but now i think i know there tunes quite well,the negative reaction to dear c and stuff..........anyways,i might indulge into this,but to be honest i can`t think of a tune that has"affected me"..it would be interestin to know who"nice day for a sulk"is aimed at???hahahaha...was watchin juno last night,great to hear b&s,as well as superstar-sonic youth and sea of love -ct power...enjoyed the film..............

i too like this idea AND am a latecomer to the B&S fanbase... i really only like their stuff from life pursuit and the eps from it.. besides a song or two on each other album.. so i cant really say that they've affected me either...
i'd almost like to flip this thread - or expand it to include our very lovely and talented band, Camera Obscura..
..now i'll have to try to nail down some thoughts to write bout a song or two.. hard to choose whats affected me most..

I've been thinking about this for awhile. Honestly I can't think of any stories about B&S, I've been mostly a casual fan and I got into them long after my broody teenage years when their stories of underdog anguish would have really affected me.
But what about God Help The Girl? Weirdly enough I've emotionally connected with Stuart's girl-group side project moreso than any of the B&S records.

Well this went down like a turd in a swimming pool. I may try a different approach at Bowlie 2.
