oh yeah! i have a couple of (gasp!) tapes even! i got an LP way way back in the early nineties from a friend who was from overseas somewhere and he got me hooked.. it was thirteen i believe and god knows where that went.. i really got into them with Grand Prix and Songs from Northurn Britain but they kinda went by the wayside for quite a while now and i only got re-obsessed with em probably this year.. i've tracked down some pretty good singles and eps (17 total including the Scotland on Sunday ep) but mostly thru the net and will pursue real copies of the ones i really like... how bout you Pete?

1st album was Bandwagonesque, didn't really like it. It seemed so out of time that I didn't give it a chance. A Catholic Education was their 1st album I think but have never actually bought it or heard it. I'm same as you, got Grand Prix as it got excellant reviews, loved it, but probabaly love Northern Britain more so. In fact I'd say it was their artistic peak for me. I can't belive both albums are from 95/97 - seems like only a few years ago. The band/songs are pretty iconic now here in Scotland I would say.
Oh yeh, and Bandwagonesque got a 2nd chance, and its one of my all time fave albums now.

yeah - SFNB is my favourite too.. i usually dont enjoy greatest hits albums cause the songs always seem somewhat out of context but 4766 seconds is truly great.. i got that cd sometime ago and it has been played more than the others i have.. it may interest ya too that there are about 20 or so cover songs and b-sides that from 1995-97 that were included on tour editions and eps... really really good stuff! i count 9 eps that i have found and 2 bonus discs. check out this forum... http://www.soundopinions.org/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t22692-50.html this guy lists a pretty big discography of em..

when i first started listening to TFC, i couldn't find anything but the EP's in vinyl on ebay. and it seems that Merge wont be pressing the new one either! But I gotta say Man-Made is my fav of them all. I'm not really a huge fan though.

I keep forgetting to buy Man-Made
Well TFC will be my last UK gig before leaving these shores, I am really looking forward to it as they are a great live band and the albums don't really do them justice in term of the sound they deliver live.
So whats this thread about then ? Nothing really, just, kinda felt things had got a bit quiet again.
We need some UK gigs, these yanks and canadians are just getting plain old spoilt. TAC will be speaking with a New Yoik accent or southern drawl when/if she ever gets back to Glesgae - she'll be walking on the sidewalk instead of the pavement, and making statemenst like "Ghee Golly ! I got so excited I was about to spit !" - don't know what film that was on ?
Anyways, I think I should change the thread title to Pete's Insane Random Ramblings
