Well I finally cracked after 2 bottles of admittedly nice wine and bought my tickets for Bowlie 2. Who else is going ?
Camera Obscura not announced yet but I'm ever hopeful. At least I have Belle & S, Vaselines, Teenage Fanclub, Isobel Campbell and Julian Cope to look forward to.

If I stop paying my rent for 3 months, I might be able to make it...

Honestly... aside from B&S, of course... I'd be most excited to see Isobel & Lanegan. I saw Isobel in '06 on her only US tour... she toured with Eugene Kelly instead of Mark Lanegan... which was awesome (and they got to play "Son of a Gun")... but it still wasn't Mark. Last year, IC and ML were supposed to play a gig in May in NYC (same venue CO played over the summer), but it was "postponed" until the fall. The fall came and went. No word.

I'd love to see them. I really dig those 2 albums. Still can't go to Bowlie 2, though.

I mean... I know B&S will play a NYC gig sometime later this year or early next year. Vaselines are bound to do a tour this year (and I've seen them a couple times over the past couple years).

But Isobel and Lanegan... come to NYC! puh-leeze. I simply can't afford bowlie 2. I mean... maybe if I cut out all my normal concert going... but I can't do that.

i am still up in the air about it...bottom line is i dont think i can afford it(i`m at atp in 3 weeks) i might try and sneak in and crash with friends...if someone said listen i need someone to share i`d probably crack...but we`ll see.....i`d really like to go...but to keep a house runnin on my money is no mean thing and with two lads...but anyways...i remember isobell playin manchester....one of the guys off shacknet(weejim) is jim mcculloch ex of soup dragons...he pm`d me and said he put me on the guezzie he is isobels guitar player, unfortunately i was signed in as tanya at the time(a long story)...so i never recieved the message until after the show................but yeah i`m hopin for a b&s and a camera obscura stand alone show this year(at least one of each)ATP is the business though...easily the best festival...altough there are other less comfortable ones, like the green man...........

I have to say I'm excited to be going, I really wanted to go to the one in May Pavement , CO etc but can't get time off work.
Funnily enough Isobel Campbell was in a cafe in Glasgow's West End where I live last week and I asked her if she was playing soon. She said she was working on her new album but didn't mention if it was another duets album

Hey, you guys have had your fill of CO this year Shocked and now your complaining because ZVG ain't over there ?? Very Happy

I kinda wonder what direction that this new album will take ... hopefully more atmospheric, and more lady voices. Like the best wee tunes from their great wee debut album Very Happy

I think they can go a long way, hopefully.

I read, I think on the FB page, that they finished recording in studio a few weeks ago. Hopefully we won't have to wait very long for it to be mastered and pressed.

Kim's voice is amazing of course, but I kinda want to hear MJM's on the new one. The most noise he makes on LP1 is the "one, two, three, four" at the beginning of City Is Exploding. Does he sing anything live?

I am indeed going.

And I'm rooming with a fellow North American off the Sinister list whom I've yet to actually meet in person.

And I haven't bought plane tickets yet.

All signs point to 'disaster'? Maybe.

But I'm still very very excited.

You know you're welcome with us Gra, even though we've swerved the self catering option and just gone for a hotel room style double thingy (cue Geoffin...) ha ha no-one will understand that, but the line up is truly exceptional I feel. Can't say i'm that bothered about some of the line up but i'll need my rest so the ones I really want to see the most besides B&S are The Zombies, one of my all time favourites, Edwyn (the same), Vashti Bunyan (jesus I can't believe I'm gonna get to see her after so many listens to her beuatiful music), err... the fannies, Jenny Lewis, i've never heard The Vaselines much, Julian (I agree with Gra's earlier post, WSYM is my favourite album of his), the phenomenal handclaps, I can live without foals etc, but I've heard they screen films and stuff so a good sit down would be nice ha ha.. i've been saving £50 a month for the last few months just so's I can go and really enjoy it.. hope to meet some of you there.. now long now...
