Cheers

| i`ve mentioned this before but when the band get to 10x7" singles(how many is it now 8?)..they should put out a numbered limited 500 boxset at £50,it would fly off the shelf, they early singles go for at least £20 each....be a nice little earner..and i`m sure someone is makin,b.b.hi-fi right now in japan and coinin it in............ | |

| I've never understood these magpie completests, buying the us version of an album because it has a slightly differant coloured cover or whatever - I don't have a record player so what would be the point of buying and hoarding the 7" singles unless it was seen as a future investment ??
I can understand wanting every bootleg and everything the band has released tho.

| Aww Pete mate, you've got to get a record player!! Seriously the vinyls are like completely different albums. ESPECIALLY My Maudlin Career, the difference in audio quality is night and day. I wouldn't say there's a great deal of difference on Underachievers, so you might want to skip that vinyl and besides the CD has two bonus tracks. But Country and Maudlin you need for surrrre!! If you perhaps already have a record player, and just have a busted/missing needle or cartridge, go here: turntableneedles.com - that's where I went to fix up the turntable I bought at a yard sale for $0.25 - fantastic little website, great prices, free shipping. I recommend a Grado Green needle, probably the best audiophile grade you'll ever see for under $50. | |

| I don't have any vinyl, I don't have a deck. I was given a Linn Sondek LP12 years ago, but gave it away to a friend who was a vinyl head. I have Naim Audio equipment, and the sound is very anologue, and I can hear/feel Traceyannes breath when she sings - it's just like she is in the room I'd love to do a demo with my system and a decent deck at the front end just to see what it would be like. However, being an audiophile, means if there was an improvement - I'd have to bankrupt myself again for an upgrade, thats why I stay away from my hifi dealer as much as possible. | |

Yeah that's why I build my own gear, or fix up old equipment - eBay and Goodwill are my best friends. If I was buying brand name stuff I would totally be in the poor house. Audiophile quality is so bloody expensive!!!!

| Hello, just joined this lovely forum today. £26, that is a steal. I so love the demo version of Eighties fan on there. People may boo me but i hope they don't re-issue it, it's nice to have one or two collectables by your favourite bands and I always love going to great lengths to track collectable items down. | |

| Even I don't have a real copy of this. Although I've never been a real completeist with this kinda thing. Would rather spend my money following them around... I do, of course, have an illegal bootleg!
That's awesome you guys managed to find halfway "affordable" copies of this, though. I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to sell their copy in the first place!

Be nice if you got a deal tho, Ebay Japan is worth a search now and again. Thats where I got my copy. I bet there are some unloved forgotten copies in peoples CD collections, completely oblivious as to how rare and how much demand there is for it. Of course, having TAC sing to you personally, and one of your best mates is a decent alternative

tony HA! That's it! I always thought she was saying "please go". I watched a Rare UK Bird CD sit on Amazon for $175 for like 2 months in 2007. I set up an eBay email alert and searched everywhere for it during that time. And finally blew the $175 to get it.. hehe... but it's worth it. I've kept the eBay alert active, and seen maybe 20 copies since then, averaging around $60, and one went for like $20...

| I finally got a hold of some not terrible bitrate MP3's of Rare UK Bird and am listening for the first time right now. First thoughts, am I the only one who likes the original Eighties Fan better than the BBHF version? Obviously that early demo needs some mastering work done, the vocals are incredibly buried, but I feel like it's more fleshed out than the version that Stuart Murdoch produced. Any counter thoughts? | |

| yeah Paul - i have to agree with you on that.. i just like the way her voice inflects on many of the lyrics like "The way you look is fine" on the uk bird version. i find i enjoy the music better on BBHF... so a nice mix of both would be stellar. bolony btw - i too hav a shite copy of mp3 but i refuse to get anything better until i get my grubby fingers on a copy... besides, i dont know if one is out there in digital-world... | |

| as i continue to listen i think i like how TAC's voice sounds fragile or tentative.. i can almost feel the nervousness about performing in it and i really dig that about that disc! | |
