funny - thats what i hav on the player as i read your post... kangaroo - such dark (but somehow inspiring) sounds on a brilliantly desperate album
never got much into his solo stuff tho..

incidentally, was listenin to some solo work of Jenny Lewis (lead singer of Rilo Kiley) which is much more folk soul than RK but googled some info and found out that both M.Ward & Zooey appear on several tracks (guitars & backing vocals mainly)of her 2008 album "acid tongue". theres other names that contributed (like Elvis Costello) too but i know theres fans of she & him on here. decent album for those interested - personally like the tracks "next messiah" and "jack killed mom".

I looked that up and found this live performance of Carpetbaggers with Lewis, Costello AND Zooey! Good stuff mate.

Probably won't listen to Acid Tounge any time soon though. Have a whole stack of music that I haven't listened to yet, because I simply haven't been in the mood to listen to anything new. :/ And I've got to be in a really specific mood to listen to enjoy folk/country style stuff.

This is a few years old, but deserves some stream time, especially whiles we're waiting for the new Go Away Birds EP:

Elephant - If You're Lucky You'll End Up With Someone You Don't Hate

Here is the ONLY place I can find to buy it. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/elephantmusic - As I use this distributor myself, I know for a fact that for every CD you buy, the band gets a whopping $5.99.

I know it's still the same day. Same hour probably. And it's by the same band, and from the same album, but I just HAD to post this song I just heard for the first time from "In The Moon". It's the kind of song you would buy an entire CD for, just to listen to this one track, and then stick it on repeat for hours. It's the kind of song that makes you go crosseyed, makes your brain twist itself in knots around your heart, and make your stomach take a holiday to get away from the torrid love affair your brain and heart are having. Especially the bridge where Catherine double tracks herself. So bloody amazing!!

Elephant - Gordian Knot

the replacements are/were our band...the "pet"band.......as for a place to start?it depends on your perseverance levels..if your gonna give it time and effort i`m really enjoying suicaine gratification right now..i`d say its his best, people will disagrre..if not then eventually is pretty much straight on...folker gets a mixed reviews from his faans on "man without ties"..but its pretty good stuff...gutsy,powerfull.............i`d give besterberg or resterberg as miss...........i think we decided on besterberg in the end??
