I've seen them five times!
Seattle - Showbox at the Market
Copenhagen - Loppen Club in Christiana
Stockholm - The Strand in Sodermalm
Eugene, Oregon - Woodmen of the World Hall
Portland - Berbati's Pan Club

The Showbox seats about 1200 and for that show I was quite a ways away from the band, but the rest are great small venue's (300-500 people) and I was able to get within 15-20 ft of the band, it was great!!

In Stockholm I was exploring the area trying to find the location of the club earlier that day and couldn't find it but then spotted a big fancy tour bus, and walked by that area and as I was walking by a little quiet cafe I noticed the bandmembers in there eating lunch!! I was too much of a coward to go in and say Hi!

Then in Portland while the warmup band was taking down their equipment one of the roadies ushered Tracyanne and Carey through the crowd to the backstage area, no one even noticed. I grabbed a stranger next to me and told her "that's Camera Obscura, tracyanne and carey!!!"
Then during one song, Tracyanne grabbed one of those little shaker noise maker things, that looks like a big egg or avacado, BUT it was a real avacado!!! The warmup band had switched it on her!! Everyone had a good laugh!!

Seven!

All in Boston and New York so far.

Venues: Paradise, South Street Seaport, Somerville Theatre, Webster Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Flea, Grand Ballroom.

After the "ice cream social" show I nervously approached Lee as he was perusing records and got to shake his hand. </12yrold>

Also, first post! from this C.O. obsessive from the states. Hello all.

We've been to a lot of the same shows! I wasn't at the somerville one, but I think I was at all of the others. the music hall show was probably my fave... but they all had memorable moments. except that brooklyn flea show was pretty miserable.

You seeing b&s at the wang theater next week?

I've been to both their concerts here in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I'm planing on trying to see them in the US next year (humbling aiming for coachella) since it seem not likely for them to come back here so soon.

Nah, can't afford to sadly. It was announced after Bowlie, and that's a hideous commitment for me to have made. Bowlie will be my first time seeing though, so it'll be special on a couple levels.

Yeah though, that Bank Vault show was awful. I didn't even bother trying to get a sample of the ice cream. (My ladyfriend was just about ready to kill me for dragging her to that.. although in the time since, she's become quite a fan of CO..)

well - from all accounts, I guess it was good that i was so late for the vault show... we got there as the folks were filing out due to our slow progress from Jersey to Brooklyn (my gawking, not transpo).. i genuinely enjoyed the "aftershow" ice cream and chatting with Lee and then Tracyanne.. mixed blessin i guess!

I think you're right Tony... the only nice part of that gig was afterwards with the ice cream and chatting w/ the band. It was a cool space... but would have been a lot better with some fans and about 1/3 of the people in there.

Four times, all in Toronto.

January 31st 2007 at the Opera House
August 26th 2007 at The Phoenix
June 27th 2009 at Lee's Palace
November 26th 2009 at The Phoenix

The August 2007 show was fantastic because it was the end of the LGOOTC tour and also their third stop in Toronto on that tour (I missed the first one as it was at Lee's and sold out so damned fast). Third stop meant the crowd was actually fairly thin (read: not a massive crush of people) and end of the tour meant they were having a blast knowing that the end of the gig meant going home. I wish I had written down what was played in the encore as I've lost track.

hi Stephen - welcome here by the way!
we were at a couple of the same shows - your last two.. I didnt realize that they had played at Phoenix before.. i did a quick search on the usual sites to find out the setlist (you piqued my curiosity to what i missed!)..
short review i found here...
http://itsnotthebandihateitstheirfans.blogspot.com/2007/08/camera-obscura-wlast-town-chorus.html
they apparently played Super Trouper and Sun on His Back.. and this wouldve be amazing to see...

Quote :
the encore began with guitarist Kenny McKeeve doing his rendition of The Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon." Apparently he was required to do so at the loss of a bet, and the rest of the band just sat idly by and watched him, with huge mischievous grins on their faces. Tons 'o fun

tons of fun is right! kicking my sorry ass now for not going!! i was even in TO that weekend! erg...

some various pics from the show here but no setlist...

They were definitely doing that Sonny & Cher song on that tour. I got the lyric sheet when they played it in Philly.

I'm pretty sure it was handwritten... but I kinda forget. I'll see if i can find it when I get home.

Here's a video of them playing the song the day after I saw them in Philly:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqIjsVWjCc4

I actually didn't make it to that Soundfix "show" (actually an in-store)... because I didn't know about it until I got home from Philly and by that time it was too late. Needless to say, I was not happy. But I did see them again the next day at South Street Seaport! And let's face it... I really don't like going to those crowded in-store gigs anyway. There's usually a whole lot of casual fans there who are just going because it's free and the band's only play a handful of songs. And you have to wait around FOREVER to get in... at least at ones in NYC.
