i started this today

right i dont know wether this will take off but i`ll give it a go,i`ve just bin to see camera obscura play and i am beginning to bore some to tears on the site where i live www.shacknet.co.uk ,so i decide to start this for meself,some off said board,orynthia,tom and sean...since camera obsura`s last forum got invaded and shut down because it was hacked,i think gav got fed up,it might have been a job for blair young to do a new one.....maybe not,anyways so here it is,i dont expect many to indulge although feel free to join in,there are a lot more of fans of the band now,i know i`ve seen them...let me say this though,the last forum was very slow,only a few usin/joinin in...thats okay...the site i mentioned before shacknet has been goin more than 10 years.its not full of nutters,everyone on there has a valid point,superb taste in music and a sense of humour...they are a pleasure to know...anyways,i`ll link this to some things and see how it gets on....ta(this has nowt to do with the band)

i`ve been tryin to tout this around to other mini forums...they all seem to move as slow as the official arl one....but there are more fans of the band now,and tryin to get them to the one place is hard,but i`ll keep on tryin...if anyone readin this can cut an paste the garbled message below into any other forum that`d be sound...dean got it into myspace,which is the best shot..i tried to get it into drowned in sound...but cant activate the password...ta....

hiya,right you seem to have your own forum which is great,it seems though that it doesn`t move that much,so i just wanted to say that i`m tryin to get everyone in the same place,since the old forum got hit by a virus,that also didn`t move to well though,dont think gav wanted to do it really,and since there`s nothing now for people to share stuff in a good way i thought i`d try this,feel free not to try it,its your choice,sorry to invade your space.....but if ya wanna come see...give it time,its quite new................ta

Tom here from Bristol. Orynthia and I came up to Glasgow for the Barrowlands gig (which was fab) and have been hanging around for a few days.

As ever in Glasgow, we are having a fantastic time, spending lots of money in Monorail (although they did give me some money as well, which I'll tell you about later!). Great to see so many young folks at the C.O. gig the other night.

nice to hear from ya again tom,how the djin is goin? okay,as i said when i started this forum on sunday night,after 3-4 days of total indulgance followin the band about,meetin friends and enjoyin new towns,or if you like other towns and cities..i thought about startin this,with you,orynthia and shaun in mind...as really you are the people who kinda used the official forum for a while,as well as meetin you in shrewsbury...the way i saw it was,i wanted to talk bout the band an stuff,we have are own forum at shacknet thats been goin for over 10 years now,its a great site,so many fantastic people,we talk bout most stuff and everyone i`ve met off there(an thats many)are great company..an its a grin..and the depth of music new and old is amazin..so what i was tryin to say is that c/o deserve,or more importantly fans of the band if they want to voice anythin,should have somewhere to do it...here hopefully will be the place,as you mentioned their fans are growing daily,especially with the kind of exposure we are seein on their myspace site.....and with that tour of the states bein so extensive....who knows?anyways welcome to you both...if you are part of any other c/o forum please link this,there....its down to the individual were they come....just needed somewhere like this................

Hello Grame, my confirmation email took a bit longer than Tom's but I'm here and registered now. I have been missing the old forum so thank you so much for creating this one. It seems amazingly busy compared to the last one - well done! Still in Glasgow. The gig on Sunday was wonderful. They showed no signs of their nerves. Nigel was there even though they had said he was no longer with the band. And Francois played as well. I'd say there were almost slick - but they did have to restart a song at one point. It was a star studded audience with most of Belle & Sebastian, a couple of Teenage Fanclub (if you count Dave the Hat) and Eugene Kelly. Bye for now.

hi orynthia,well the reasons behind the new forum are sorted..and now we are all kinda back in touch,which is great,and hopefully we can meet up for some shows when the band arrive back from the states....also i`m lookin forward to readin what t`other folk have to say on the board(linz,geoff,nick,clarky,steve well everyone really)hopefully we can keep it goin,even though the last forum were a bit grim,at least ya could sort stuff out,like meetin shaun last year in manchester.....hopefully more people will arrive and in time this will be a good base to natter bout nothin in particular,i know i`ve banged on bout this before,but if anyone can link this to any other camera obscura forums that mightn`t move much,that`d be great..also any myspace users,if you can now an again,put a link in the messages box,so it stays current,like clarky has..that`d be sound too..........ta

well,well,well i know its early days but this thing is as quiet as the arl one,i`ve just joined myspace,its fuckin horrible like...but its the only way i can link in any way shape or form to the band to this...we`ll see,i`ll bang it in there a few times...see what happens,bloody hell i`d rather go fishin.....i`m thinkin shoulda started a brent randall one or summit instead....i wonder if simon ever felt like this?

Be patient Gra. I don't know how you get the site to show up on a google search, actually I havent' tried so it may well show up on a search. I think it's a pretty good effort so far. Any chance you could try and see if the band would link here from the official site??

although i spoke to them a bit recently(i shoulda asked gav really?)carey seems to be biggest netite followed by kenny...all along they`ve said they don`t really wanna get involved with this kinda thing(internet stuff)but it does have a place for them and what they are tryin to do(my personal opinion)in the fact of bein heard by as many people as possible,i don`t know the band at all(even though i was the guardian of the tin for awhile)....i think the best thing is to now and again put the link in the myspace box thingy,tried to be their"friend"yesterdee...i hate myspace................

right,now i am officially a friend of camera obscura(well a myspace friend)...so i`ll post a link to the myspace tonight,see what happens and wait for the influx of all things bright and beautiful....better get some forms on order with the stationer................

well the dirty deed is done,it remains to be seen wether it goes up.....i mentioned the radio sessions,surely they cant have me for that,or the jibe about their modelin career?never got the connection until the cerys interview.....lets just hope they don`t take it seriously and keep their clothes on.........
