Tracyanne on the radio 15 October 2009

My mother and I will be talking about our mutual appreciation of a certain song by a certain American female songwriter on the Family Affair slot of the Janice Forsyth show this coming Saturday17th Oct. You can find more information here:
www.bbc.co.uk/radioscotland

how lame...replying to my own post...ahwell

just finished listenin to this little segment and was pretty interestin (for an obsessed fan like me) - Tracyanne and her mum talking about Carole King - a song/artist that is loved by multiple generations in yer family. Man, i LOVE her mum's accent - i can listen to it all day...much nicer than my diminished-maritimer accent! Shore is! Very Happy
i too liked my mom's music - as it were she too likes this Carole King tune ("It's Too Late")

Tapestry is a classic, only surpassed for me by Dusty Springfield's "in Memphis" album. Carol King wrote 4 tracks on this album with her writing partner Gerry Goffin (Goffin/King).

Both albums are a must have for any serious music fan in my opinion.

If you don't know much about Carol King, you may be as surprised as I was some 20 years ago to find out how many pop hits she is reponsible for, the Drifters "Up on the roof" was the biggest surprise for me.

I recall a cover version in the erly 90's by Dina Carroll of Quartz of "Its Too Late" which was played in every club at the time - loved the track - thought it was original until someone pointed out it was a cover - hasn't really lasted the the test of time in comparison to the timeless quality of the original by King.
